Police Confirm Gunmen Attack in Funtua, Assure Residents
Residents of Funtua, Katsina State, have raised concerns after suspected armed gunmen reportedly invaded parts of the town on Thursday night, firing repeatedly for nearly two hours. The gunfire was heard around Kasuwar Mata, Dandaji and the Sokoto Bye-Pass corridor near ASA Bread Company. Residents said many families, traders and motorists stayed indoors over fears of being caught in the violence. Security operatives reportedly responded and moved to contain the situation. Katsina Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu confirmed the attack and said security agencies were on top of the situation. Residents have called for stronger patrols, better intelligence gathering and quicker emergency responses as concerns persist over kidnapping and armed attacks in Funtua and nearby communities.
