Oyo APM Officers Sue Party Leaders Over Alleged Third-Term Bid

Five Oyo State officers of the Allied People’s Movement have asked the Federal High Court in Ibadan to stop the party’s National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, and National Secretary, Oyadeyi Ayodele Adebayo, from allegedly seeking a third consecutive term. In suit FHC/IB/CS/122/2026, the plaintiffs argue that the APM constitution permits elected officers to serve a four-year term that can be renewed only once. They want the court to rule that Dantalle and Adebayo are ineligible to contest the same offices again after two consecutive terms. The suit also seeks to bar INEC from recognising any election that returns the two officials for a third term. The plaintiffs further alleged that the APM’s Oyo State chairman is serving a third term, but the claims have not been decided by the court and the defendants had not responded when the report was filed.
