South African Man Jailed for Life Over Nurse Wife’s Shooting at Hospital
The Polokwane High Court has sentenced 56-year-old Molabe Fannie Seribishane to life imprisonment for the October 2024 killing of his wife, 52-year-old nurse Mamsy Seribishane, at Lebowakgomo Hospital. Court evidence revealed that Seribishane ignored a protection order and arrived at the hospital armed with a semi-automatic firearm. He fled the scene in a white Volkswagen Golf but was arrested weeks later in possession of a stolen gun linked by ballistics to the murder. Prosecutors showed he had threatened to burn down the family home and acted in a premeditated manner when angered by his wife’s legal attempts to resolve marital disputes. Judge Karin Leanee Pillay described the case as “watertight” and noted his lack of remorse. In addition to the life sentence for murder, Seribishane will serve concurrent prison terms for domestic violence, unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, and has been declared unfit to own a weapon.
