Sokoto High Court Sentences Three to Death for Terrorism and Arms Proliferation
A Sokoto State High Court has condemned three men, including a Nigerien national, to death by hanging after convicting them of terrorism and arms proliferation. The accused—Yusuf Muhammad (also known as Sallau), Jabbi Alhaji Yalle and Kabiru Muhammad—were arrested on June 13, 2025 by the Department of State Services’ Counter-Terrorism Unit over alleged cross-border crimes and weapons trafficking. Justice Bello delivered the judgment and ordered all seized funds forfeited to the Federal Government. This ruling follows a wave of recent DSS-led terror prosecutions across Nigeria. In the past week, a female arms courier in Katsina received a death sentence for transporting ammunition, while separate courts in Abuja and Kogi handed down capital punishments for deadly attacks and kidnappings.
