Cattle Herder's Calm Reaction Saves Him from Lioness Attack

A cattle herder in Gujarat survived nearly 30 minutes pinned beneath a lioness by staying perfectly still and gently stroking the big cat until it released him. The viral video shows the injured man lying next to a parked pickup truck as villagers shout and throw stones from a distance. Forest officials say he remained composed throughout the ordeal before the lioness finally walked away. Identified as Kalubhai Parmar, the herder was first treated at a local government hospital and later moved to a larger facility. He is now out of danger. Forest authorities praised his patience and presence of mind for preventing the situation from worsening. Officials have appealed to villagers not to approach or harass the lioness and to contact the forest department immediately if they spot her.
