Obi and Kwankwaso File Appeal to Save NDC's Registration

A fierce legal battle is under way as Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso lead efforts to save the Nigeria Democratic Congress from deregistration. This follows Justice Isah Dashen's ruling at the Federal High Court in Lokoja, which nullified an earlier judgment ordering the Independent National Electoral Commission to recognise the party. The Peace Movement Party successfully argued it was denied a fair hearing in the original case. Undeterred, the NDC has vowed to appeal to the Court of Appeal. The party says it will fight to preserve its platform as preparations for the 2027 general elections accelerate.
