Wike Says G5 Backed Obi in Parts of South-South to Cut Atiku’s 2023 Votes

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says the G5 worked to reduce Atiku Abubakar’s votes in the South-South during the 2023 presidential election. He said the group believed the PDP was strong in the region and that Labour Party victories in states such as Edo and Cross River would weaken Atiku without giving Peter Obi a national path to victory. Wike also argued that the Muslim-Muslim ticket was a major factor in Obi’s 2023 support. He said he does not expect Obi to win South-South states in 2027 and predicted that President Bola Tinubu would be difficult to defeat.
