Kalu: Catholic Bishops Speak the Truth on Nigeria’s Hardship, but Tinubu Is Not Solely to Blame

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu says the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria has a duty to speak honestly about the country’s condition. Reacting to the bishops’ visit to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Kalu said their concerns about the economy, insecurity and political climate should be taken seriously. He described the bishops as the conscience of the country. Kalu acknowledged that Nigerians face real hardship but argued that the situation is not solely President Tinubu’s fault. He also said politicians may give the President an overly positive picture of conditions, while religious leaders are more likely to speak plainly.
