NGF Inaugurates Forum for State Procurement Directors-General
The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has inaugurated a forum for Directors-General of Public Procurement from the 36 states and the FCT. The initiative is intended to improve transparency, accountability and efficiency in state government spending. At the Abuja inauguration, NGF Director-General Abdulallateef Shittu said procurement agencies play a central role in budget implementation and project delivery. He urged members to uphold professionalism, due process and value for money. Federal BPP Director-General Adebowale Adedokun said the forum could strengthen procurement reforms at the subnational level, support domestic industries and improve investor confidence. The newly elected chairman, Ehimoni Ibiyomi, pledged collective leadership, closer collaboration with the federal BPP and development partners, and stronger procurement institutions across the states. Stakeholders noted that public procurement represents a major share of government spending and remains critical to reducing financial leakages and improving public services.
