Zulum Assures Parents of Renewed Effort to Rescue 44 Abducted Borno Pupils

Borno Governor Babagana Zulum has met with parents of 44 pupils abducted from Mussa community in Askira/Uba Local Government Area on May 15, 2026. Zulum said the Federal Government and Borno State Government had stepped up efforts to secure the children’s release. He said President Bola Tinubu had directed security agencies to intensify operations for their safe return. The Hawul Askira-Uba Elders’ Forum also called for the rescue of 36 students still missing after an abduction at Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, as well as other victims taken along routes in southern Borno. The group urged authorities to deploy all available security resources to bring the abducted residents home.
