Mukesh Ambani is an Indian businessman and the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries. Born on 19 April 1957 in Aden, now part of Yemen, he studied chemical engineering in Mumbai and left Stanford University in 1980 to join his father’s growing business. After the death of his father, Dhirubhai Ambani, in 2002, Mukesh and his brother Anil divided the family’s business interests. Mukesh expanded Reliance across energy, telecommunications, retail, media, finance and sports. The group also owns the Mumbai Indians cricket team. He has been married to Nita Ambani since 1985, and they have three children: Akash, Isha and Anant. The family lives in Antilia in Mumbai. As of mid-2026, estimates place his wealth at roughly $91.8 billion to $94.3 billion, making him one of Asia’s wealthiest business figures.
