Deji Adeleke Alleges Vote Buying in Osun, Says He Prayed Voters Would Back Ademola

Deji Adeleke says he prayed that Osun voters would collect alleged inducements from the APC but still vote for his younger brother, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in the August 15 governorship election. Speaking after the election, Deji alleged that the APC spent about ₦60 billion on its campaign and that some voters were offered up to ₦50,000 for a single vote. He said he chose prayer rather than trying to match the party’s alleged spending. Ademola Adeleke, running on the Accord platform, polled 511,067 votes to defeat APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes. Deji said the victory reflected his family’s faith in God rather than superior political influence or campaign resources.
