Troops Arrest Three in Katsina Over Alleged ₦2.7m Ransom Delivery to Terror Kingpin
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 35 Battalion have arrested three suspects in Faskari, Katsina State, over the alleged movement of ₦2.7 million ransom money and mobile phones to a suspected terror kingpin. The suspects were reportedly intercepted on a motorcycle at about 11:30 a.m. on September 24. The military said the recovered items included the cash, one Android phone and two smaller mobile phones. Preliminary findings allegedly linked the intended delivery to two suspected criminal associates in the Faskari area. The suspects and exhibits have been transferred to the 17 Brigade Provost Group for further investigation. Troops also carried out patrols and stop-and-search operations across parts of Katsina to restrict the movement of kidnappers and other armed groups. The allegations remain subject to investigation and do not amount to a finding of guilt.
