Public Complaints Commission Reports 1.28 Million Cases in One Year
The Public Complaints Commission says it received 1,281,984 cases in the past year, resolved 716,688 and recorded 562,296 as pending. Chief Commissioner Bashir Abubakar presented the figures in Abuja while reviewing the commission’s activities since taking office in September 2024. He said increased public awareness from recent outreach efforts contributed to the rise in complaints. Abubakar also cited staff promotions, improved funding for state offices, technology upgrades and a nationwide biometric verification exercise as part of internal reforms. The commission plans to host its first Nigerian Ombudsman Conference in Abuja on October 15, focusing on stronger institutions and compliance in public administration.
