Paulinus Ekwueme, the traditional ruler of Ochia Community in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State, was ambushed and killed by gunmen on Friday, April 10. The attack occurred at the boundary between Assa and Ochia communities soon after the monarch returned from an overseas trip. Five other residents, not yet identified, also lost their lives during the raid. Imo State Police Command spokesperson Henry Okoye confirmed that police received a distress call from Ohaji Division at about 4:30 p.m. Commissioner of Police Audu Bosso immediately deployed tactical units to the scene. The police have launched a comprehensive investigation and are conducting intensive operations to track down the assailants. Additional security measures are in place to prevent any recurrence of such violence in the area. Commissioner Bosso, accompanied by his management team, visited Ochia to reassure residents of the command’s commitment to restoring peace.
