Udefi Urges Anam Age Grades to Drive Development Beyond Social Events
Engr. Samuel Onyewelu Udefi has urged Anam age grades to move beyond social gatherings and take a stronger role in community development, welfare and economic empowerment. He spoke at the 2026 Oote Anam celebration hosted by Mmekoka Age Grade, Umuoba Anam, Awka Branch. Udefi said the traditional Otu Ogbo system once helped communities build roads and markets, settle disputes and provide welfare. He called on age grades to create three-year development plans, maintain transparent development funds, engage the diaspora and work with town unions, churches and government agencies. He cited Igwebuike Anam's scholarships, school-material support, solar streetlight project and planned borehole initiative as examples. He also challenged Mmekoka's Awka Branch to support students, adopt the Umuoba Health Centre and establish youth mentorship programmes.
