Kano Police Commanders Told to Remain Neutral Ahead of 2027 Elections

Kano Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori has directed operational commanders to remain neutral, professional and non-partisan before, during and after the 2027 general elections. Speaking at a lecture on election security management in Kano, Bakori said police officers must protect human rights, uphold the rule of law and ensure a level playing field for political parties and candidates. He warned that any officer found engaging in partisan politics or compromising the electoral process would face disciplinary action. He also urged residents, political parties and supporters to avoid acts capable of disrupting public peace.
