Akpabio Says Tinubu Inherited a Struggling Economy, Predicts 2027 Re-election

Senate President Godswill Akpabio says the Tinubu administration inherited an economy in poor condition when it took office in 2023. He claimed that 27 states were unable to pay salaries and pensions at the time. Speaking in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, during a visit by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions, TETFund and NELFund, Akpabio said the administration now has achievements in the economy, agriculture, security, education and fiscal policy to present to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections. He also defended the 10th Senate, saying it has passed laws intended to improve living conditions. Akpabio urged lawmakers to remain loyal to the APC and Tinubu’s administration, including those who may not return to the next Senate.
