NEDL Cuts Power to Gwada and Erena Feeders Over Unpaid Bills
Niger Electricity Distribution Limited has disconnected the 33kV Gwada and Erena feeders supplied from the Shiroro Transmission Station over persistent unpaid electricity bills. The company said customers were issued disconnection notices in July 2026 and given time to clear their outstanding balances. It said repeated engagements and payment-recovery efforts did not resolve the debts, making the feeders commercially unsustainable. NEDL clarified that communities hosting the Shiroro Hydroelectric Power Station are not exempt from paying for electricity consumed. It urged affected customers to settle their accounts and contact its customer service channels for reconnection requirements.
