Google Pay Now Available for Eligible Mastercard Cardholders in Nigeria
Eligible Mastercard cardholders in Nigeria can now add their cards to Google Pay and make contactless payments with compatible Android devices. The service is powered by Mastercard tokenisation technology, which replaces sensitive card details with a unique digital credential during transactions. Users can tap their phones to pay at merchants with contactless-enabled payment terminals. Mastercard, Google and Interswitch said the rollout expands access to secure mobile-wallet payments as Nigerians increasingly adopt digital payment options. Participating banks and merchants will need to support the service for customers to use it.
