JMDB Denies Banning Opposition Campaign Billboards in Jos
The Jos Metropolitan Development Board has denied allegations that it plans to stop opposition parties from putting up campaign posters and billboards ahead of the 2027 general election. The board’s General Manager, Arch. Hart Bankat, said enforcement against posters or billboards placed on public buildings, monuments and other prohibited spaces is intended to maintain order in Greater Jos, not to target any political group. He said offenders who deface public spaces with campaign materials could face fines. Bankat spoke while defending the board’s 2027 budget estimates before the Plateau State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
