Russia and Ukraine Exchange Bodies of 275 Soldiers Killed in War
Russia and Ukraine have exchanged the remains of 275 soldiers killed in the war, in a handover conducted at the Novaya Guta border crossing in Belarus. Russia transferred 252 bodies to Ukraine, while Ukraine returned 23 bodies to Russia. Ukrainian officials said the returned remains would be identified with support from law-enforcement agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The exchange is one of the few remaining channels of direct contact between both countries since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Ukraine said its recovery teams continue to work despite drone attacks, mines and shelling.
