Ejiofor Condemns Reported Benue Blockade of Peter Obi, Warns of 2027 Political Violence
Human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has condemned the reported obstruction of Peter Obi and his entourage during a private visit to Benue State. He described the incident as a troubling sign of political intolerance ahead of the 2027 elections. Ejiofor said political actors must be allowed to move freely and engage Nigerians without intimidation. He warned that normalising roadblocks, armed thugs and threats could deepen political tension and undermine democracy. He urged President Bola Tinubu, Governor Hyacinth Alia and other political leaders to discourage violence and allow campaigns to be decided by policies, ideas and the ballot box.
