CBN Report: Dangote Refinery Imported $3.74bn Crude Oil in 2025
Dangote Petroleum Refinery imported $3.74 billion worth of crude oil in 2025, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Balance of Payments report. This came even as Nigeria remains a major crude producer. Crude oil exports fell 14.4% from $36.85 billion in 2024 to $31.54 billion in 2025. Meanwhile, refined fuel imports dropped by 28.9%, from $14.06 billion to $10.00 billion, thanks to local output from the Dangote facility. Non-oil imports rose 13.6% to $29.24 billion. The goods account surplus grew to $14.51 billion, driven by $5.85 billion in refined product exports and higher gas shipments. Nigeria’s current account surplus stood at $14.04 billion in 2025, down from $19.03 billion in 2024. Higher service payments and dividend outflows weighed on the balance, while secondary income inflows eased slightly.
