Atiku Replies Obasanjo: I Have No Regrets Opposing Third-Term Agenda

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has replied to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s claim that choosing him as running mate in 1999 was the biggest mistake of his presidency. In a statement issued on August 1, Atiku said Obasanjo was attempting to rewrite history. He argued that their rift stemmed from his opposition to Obasanjo’s alleged third-term agenda. Atiku said he was proud to have defended the Constitution and would not apologise for resisting any attempt to extend presidential tenure. He added that no individual is above Nigeria and said he has no regrets about supporting Obasanjo during his imprisonment and return to politics.
