Are Humans Only Restrained by Law From Acting Like Animals?
I told someone that watching wildlife documentaries can help us understand human behaviour. He replied that wild animals are different because we are human beings, and I found that view too simple. I believe that if police and military protections disappeared, some people would quickly exploit others. Stronger groups could attack weaker communities, seize property and spread fear. Law and social order often restrain the worst human impulses. Violence reported in places such as Sokoto, Zamfara and parts of the South-East shows how devastating insecurity can be. However, extreme claims of cannibalism or atrocities should be treated carefully and verified before being shared as fact.
