ICPC Questions Tinubu’s Chief of Staff Over Fake PFIPC Scandal

Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, appeared before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to answer questions about the alleged fake agency known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The ICPC is probing forged appointment letters and official documents used by Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who claimed to be the council’s Director-General and opened bank accounts and secured budget allocations without any legal basis. The Presidency has maintained that Gbajabiamila’s signature on the disputed letter was forged and has directed all federal ministries and agencies to cooperate fully. The investigation will also examine procedural weaknesses, the flow of funds, and any individuals or institutions that enabled the scheme. Civil society groups, opposition politicians, and senior lawyers have pressed for an independent inquiry. President Tinubu has asked the ICPC to conclude its probe and report within 30 days.

What details first triggered the ICPC's involvement in this PFIPC issue?

It seems odd that a supposedly high-level foreign intervention council could exist without public records or formal launch.

Abeg, I no see enough proof yet that Gbajabiamila created any PFIPC scam; ICPC fit just dey drag things out.

We need transparent agency registration and public audits to prevent phantom councils like PFIPC from ever duping taxpayers again.
