Sixteen residents of Efeyo community in the Ugboju district of Otukpo LGA, Benue State, have been buried after armed attackers invaded the area and opened fire on residents. The attack occurred around 5am on July 28, 2026. Families, community leaders, traditional rulers, politicians and religious leaders gathered for a mass burial on August 8. Mourners wept as the victims, whose bodies were placed in white caskets, were laid to rest in side-by-side graves. A Catholic priest offered prayers for the deceased.
