Court Rules EFCC’s Restriction of Homadil Realty Account Unlawful

Court Rules EFCC’s Restriction of Homadil Realty Account Unlawful — 1 of 4
1 / 4

An FCT High Court in Abuja has ruled that the EFCC unlawfully continued to restrict Homadil Realty Limited’s Zenith Bank account without obtaining the required court authorisation. The company said the account held more than ₦1 billion before it was restricted. Homadil Realty challenged the action, arguing that it violated its constitutional right to property. The EFCC said the restriction followed a petition alleging financial fraud and property-related offences linked to land transactions in Guzape and Katampe, Abuja. The court held that the continued administrative restriction was unlawful and awarded ₦2 million against the EFCC and ₦2 million against Zenith Bank.
