Operation Hadin Kai Troops Repel ISWAP Attack on Gonori, Neutralise Dozens of Terrorists
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled a coordinated ISWAP attack on the 120 Task Force Battalion in Gonori during the late hours of Saturday, 9 May into the early hours of Sunday, 10 May 2026. Acting on timely intelligence, ground forces launched a spoiling attack that trapped insurgents before they could breach the camp perimeter. Air assets from the OPHK Air Component and Nigerian Army Aviation then joined the operation, delivering precise strikes on fleeing fighters. Security forces recovered one GPMG, two PKT machine guns, five AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition belts. Preliminary checks revealed extensive battle damage and multiple insurgent casualties. Injured troops are now stable and responding well to treatment. Exploitation and pursuit operations continue to consolidate gains and track any fleeing militants. The success at Gonori highlights the growing coordination and intelligence-led approach of Nigeria’s armed forces in the counter-terrorism campaign.
