ECOWAS Court Opens Dakar Conference on Enforcing Judgments and Human Rights
The ECOWAS Court of Justice has opened a six-day international conference in Dakar, Senegal, focused on improving enforcement of its judgments and strengthening regional justice. The conference brings together judicial and government officials, lawyers, academics, civil society groups and development partners from across West Africa. Discussions will cover human rights protection, compliance with court decisions, artificial intelligence, data protection and commercial dispute resolution. Participants will also examine environmental justice, refugee protection, forced displacement and a proposed appellate chamber. The meeting is expected to produce recommendations and strategic priorities for the Court and regional integration.
