Anambra Police Arrest Suspected NSCDC Officer and Two Others in Ogidi Robbery Bust
The Anambra State Police Command has detained a suspected Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps officer and two accomplices over an alleged armed robbery in Ogidi, Idemili North LGA. The arrest followed credible intelligence received on March 21, when officers from the Rapid Response Squad raided a suspected hideout. The suspects—Francis Anene (46), Emmanuel Obi (29) and Okoye Chinonso (35)—were found with two locally made Beretta pistols, four live 9mm rounds and a fake security agency ID card. Preliminary investigations link them to a criminal syndicate accused of robbery, kidnapping and cult activities in Ogidi and its environs. In a separate operation on March 17, police in Ozubulu recovered a stolen white petrol tanker abandoned on the Onitsha/Owerri Expressway. The vehicle had no registration plates or key in the ignition. Investigations are ongoing to trace the owner and determine the circumstances behind its abandonment.
