Chika Nwoba Alleges Wife Was Detained During Search Linked to Ebonyi Government Criticism
I allege that more than 15 officers stormed my apartment in Awka on 30 July 2026 while searching for me. My wife, relatives and others in the home were reportedly assaulted, while my wife and a man driving her vehicle were taken away. I was allegedly told to surrender or my wife would not be released. I believe the operation was linked to my criticism of the Ebonyi State Government and Governor Francis Nwifuru. I maintain that my wife had no involvement in my commentary and should not have been detained or harmed because of her relationship with me. The Awka DSS later told my lawyer that they were investigating allegations that I gave orders to, funded or had links with IPOB and the Eastern Security Network. I deny those allegations, saying I have publicly criticised IPOB and was previously cleared of similar suspicions. My wife was later granted bail, but her phones, the phones of others in the apartment, the vehicle and the detained driver were reportedly still being held. I intend to challenge the matter in court and continue calling for accountability and due process.
