Makinde Sets Up Judicial Panel to Probe Oyo School Abduction
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has constituted a Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the abduction of pupils and teachers from Esinele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area. The panel is expected to establish how the kidnapping happened, identify security lapses, assess the response of relevant authorities and recommend measures to protect schools and communities. It is scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday. The victims were abducted on May 15 and rescued after 56 days in captivity. Makinde said the inquiry is necessary to establish the truth, determine whether there was negligence or collusion, and restore public confidence in school safety.
