Are Nigerians Truly Responsible for the Leaders They Get?
As Nigeria prepares for another election cycle, I have been thinking about a recurring pattern since independence. Each new regime or administration seems to leave many ordinary Nigerians facing even tougher conditions. Yet voters often return the same politicians to power or replace them with new leaders who produce similar outcomes. The hardship continues, and the cycle repeats. Is the country’s condition mainly the result of voters’ choices? Or do deeper factors limit what the masses can decide and determine Nigeria’s direction regardless of elections?
