Keyamo Says Peter Obi’s 2027 Claims Will Face Closer Scrutiny
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo says Nigerians will subject Peter Obi’s claims to closer fact-checking ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Keyamo made the remarks amid a dispute between Obi and the Anambra State Government over the financial records of Obi’s administration as governor. He rejected claims that the attention on Obi amounts to an obsession, arguing that public scrutiny is necessary because of the former governor’s political claims. The Anambra State Government says some loans obtained during Obi’s tenure are still being serviced. It also questioned his claim that N2.13 billion was left in a First Bank account for erosion projects in Oko and Umuchiana. Obi maintains that he left office without outstanding debts, unpaid salaries, pensions, gratuities or obligations to contractors for completed projects.
