Man Alleges FCT Police Demanded ₦450,000 Mobilisation Fee Over ₦1m Fraud Complaint
A social commentator has alleged that officers at the Garki Police Station in Abuja demanded a ₦450,000 mobilisation fee to investigate an alleged ₦1 million fraud case. He said his friend paid a mechanic for a supposedly new vehicle gearbox, but later discovered that an old gearbox had allegedly been installed instead. They reportedly went to the police to make a complaint. He questioned why the police would request almost half of the amount allegedly lost before acting on the case. He called for the attention of the Inspector-General of Police, noting that the police authorities have repeatedly said officers must not demand mobilisation fees for criminal investigations.
