Kano Court Sentences Two Men to Death for Killing and Burning Employer’s Body

A Kano High Court has sentenced Adamu Aliyu, 22, and Mubarak Abdulsalam, 20, to death by hanging for the murder of Dahiru Musa, 32. The court heard that Musa, who was Aliyu’s employer, was poisoned and stabbed on September 29, 2024, in Gaida Yan Kusa Quarters, Kano. His body was later taken to an uncompleted building and set ablaze in an attempt to conceal the crime. A third defendant, Sadiq Sunusi, 19, received a seven-year prison sentence for abetment after helping to obtain petrol and failing to report the burning of the body. Justice Fatima Adamu held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. The convicts have 90 days to appeal the judgment.
