‘North Decides Elections’: Ganduje Says Atiku and Obi Can’t Beat Tinubu in 2027

Former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said at a weekend event in Kano that the North remains the decisive region in presidential polls. He argued that both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi lack the grassroots structures needed to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027. He noted that ongoing talks to form an opposition coalition have yet to deliver robust political networks across Northern Nigeria. According to Ganduje, neither opposition candidate can mobilise sufficient support to secure victory in the region. Ganduje also called for INEC to tighten party registration rules. He suggested that only parties with clear ideologies, nationwide presence and functional local structures should be recognised to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy.
