EU Approves Germany’s Final €6bn Post-Pandemic Recovery Funding Request
The European Commission has approved Germany’s final €6 billion payment request under the EU’s post-pandemic recovery programme. The approval brings Germany closer to receiving its full €30.3 billion allocation. Germany’s request covers eight milestones and 19 targets, including cleaner transport, energy-efficient buildings, digital healthcare and modern public administration. The programme has supported renovations of more than 36,000 buildings, low-emission heating projects, electric buses and charging stations. The funds still require further authorisation before they can be released. Once the final payment is approved, Germany will become the third EU member state, after Denmark and Sweden, to complete its recovery programme.
