Presidency Says Tinubu Can Govern Nigeria While Abroad

The Presidency has said President Bola Tinubu can continue to perform his constitutional duties from outside Nigeria, despite questions over who is in charge while both he and Vice President Kashim Shettima are abroad. Presidential adviser Daniel Bwala said the President’s authority is not limited by location. He argued that Tinubu can issue directives, delegate responsibilities and oversee government affairs from anywhere as Commander-in-Chief. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had questioned whether Tinubu transmitted a written declaration to the National Assembly under Section 145 of the Constitution before travelling. The Presidency maintains that Tinubu remains in charge and is expected back in Nigeria after extending his working vacation by a few days.
