Army Storms Kogi Bandits’ Hideout, Rescues Two Hostages
Troops of the Army’s 12 Brigade launched an operation after receiving intelligence on injured bandits linked to criminal leader Kachallah Babangida. Supported by a police helicopter, they overran the camp along the Niger-Kwara-Kogi axis and freed two kidnap victims, Yahuza Sani and Tanimola Temidayo, who escaped during an air interdiction. The assault also disrupted an illegal mining site funding the gang. Soldiers recovered four abandoned motorcycles, over 30 rustled cattle and destroyed bandit-used farm settlements. One suspect, Ado Ibrahim, was arrested in Aleke village after cordon-and-search operations in Owara community. The rescued victims were taken to the Obajana patrol base for medical attention. Military authorities say operations will continue to pressure criminal elements and restore security in affected communities.
