How K4 Was Killed as Rival Cult Violence Rocked Benue State University

Kiniki, popularly known as K4, was a prominent Mass Communication student and radio host at Benue State University, Makurdi. He was widely regarded as influential in campus politics and was allegedly linked to a confraternity. Accounts of the period say tensions escalated between rival cult groups after the reported killing of three members of the Supreme Vikings at a nearby university. K4 was allegedly blamed by the rival group, although the claims remain unverified. On 12 March 2002, K4 was reportedly shot dead after leaving a meeting at the Vice Chancellor’s office. The killing, said to have taken place beneath a locust bean tree on campus, became a grim reminder of the devastating consequences of cult violence.
