FCCPC Orders Recall of Consumer Goods Without Proper Labels Nationwide
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has directed manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers to immediately remove consumer goods that fail to meet Nigeria’s labelling requirements. The Commission said market surveillance and routine inspections found products with missing or misleading information. Some allegedly lacked production and expiry dates, batch numbers, manufacturer details, ingredient lists, allergen warnings and country-of-origin information. FCCPC warned that businesses that keep selling non-compliant goods risk regulatory action. It also urged consumers to inspect labels carefully and report products with illegible, altered, incomplete or deceptive information through its official complaint channels.
