Police Issue Nationwide Alert Over Possible Attacks on Churches, Schools and NYSC Camps
The Nigeria Police Force has issued a nationwide security alert over intelligence suggesting increased mobilisation of terrorist elements for possible coordinated attacks on churches, schools, NYSC orientation camps and other vulnerable locations. Police said the North-East, North-West, North-Central and parts of the South-West are areas of concern. Intelligence also reportedly indicated that armed elements were moving from Katsina through Kaduna towards Plateau State, while suspected ISWAP operatives and local collaborators were surveying possible targets. Commands have been directed to strengthen security around worship centres, schools and NYSC camps. The measures include intelligence-led patrols, surveillance, stop-and-search operations, border monitoring, access control and rapid-response arrangements. The alert comes as schools prepare for the 2026/2027 academic session and ahead of the 2027 general elections. Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, vehicles, movements or objects through established security channels.
