Teacher and 10-Year-Old Student Die After Falling Into Iowa Reservoir During Field Trip
A 24-year-old fifth-grade teacher, Hannah Jorgensen, and her 10-year-old student, Ahmed Osman, died after entering the Coralville Reservoir at Lake Macbride State Park in Iowa during a school field trip. Jorgensen was found on Tuesday afternoon, while dive teams recovered Osman's body about 25 hours later. They were attending a School of the Wild programme at the Macbride Nature Recreation Area. Authorities have not yet said how the teacher and pupil ended up in the water. Multiple emergency agencies joined the search, while the school district has offered counselling and support to affected pupils, staff and families. The deaths remain under investigation.
