Ex-INEC Director Seeks Answers Over 1.5 Million Questionable Voter Records
Former INEC Director of Voter and Publicity Education Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi has questioned how 1.5 million questionable records entered the voter register. Speaking on Arise Television, he said the discovery was difficult to explain given the commission’s rules and biometric checks meant to prevent multiple registrations and other irregularities. Osaze-Uzzi said INEC had not clarified which period the review covered or how the records were identified. It is unclear whether the exercise focused on the most recent Continuous Voter Registration or included records dating back to 2011. He said INEC had reportedly cleaned up about 1.2 million records, but argued that the commission still needed to explain how the questionable entries got into the register.
