Shettima Defends Tinubu’s Reforms, Promises North-East E-Transport Support
Vice President Kashim Shettima says President Bola Tinubu’s removal of petrol subsidy and unification of exchange rates were difficult decisions that helped avert a deeper economic crisis. Shettima said the administration recognises the hardship Nigerians face and asked citizens to be patient as it introduces measures intended to ease the burden. He also said Tinubu remained involved in government decisions while abroad through regular communication with officials. He announced plans to deploy 10,600 electric tricycles, alongside 300 electric buses and taxis, in the North-East. He also described the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as a key intervention for students from low-income families. On political activities ahead of 2027, the Vice President said the administration would continue to combine governance with politics.
