Ogun NUJ Presents Media Development and Welfare Demands to Yayi

The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has presented a charter of demands to APC governorship candidate Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 election. The union is seeking support for its permanent secretariat, a digital newsroom, multimedia studios, improved facilities for state-owned media organisations and a media innovation hub. It also requested subsidised housing, health insurance, zero-interest loans, scholarships, equipment and safety protection for journalists. The NUJ further called for regular government-media briefings, access to public information, improved funding for state media and hazard allowances for journalists covering high-risk assignments. The demands form part of the union's push for stronger press freedom, professional development and welfare in Ogun State.
