Obidient Factional Dispute Raises Questions About Peter Obi’s Political Control

I will leave Kwankwasiyya out of this satire. The latest dispute is mainly about Peter Obi, the Obidient ecosystem and the blurred lines between a candidate, a political party and a support movement. A faction of the support movement reportedly announced a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council before the party constituted its own official structure. Party figures rejected the council, while Peter Obi said it was not formed with his approval. The deeper issue, in my view, is that disagreements within the movement have allegedly produced rival leadership factions despite Obi’s intervention. Inspiring supporters is important, but a political movement also needs a clear chain of authority, discipline and structures that its members recognise.
